Abreu Leaves River-Again

Uruguayan international Sebastián Abreu left River Plate yet once again. Friday afternoon ¨El Loco¨ met with club officials telling them that he had accepted an offer to go play with Spanish second division side Real Sociedad. The news broke out Friday evening around 7pm (local time). The news came as a shock to the River Plate fans as they were the club that came to his rescue when things did not go well when he left for Beitar Jerusalem. Abreu was part of the club the won the Clausura title in the first half of 2008.

According to sources, Abreu did not appear at the airport in Mendoza as River Plate prepared for their summer pre-season training in preparation for the Clausura tournament.
