Broli-ng On

Uruguayan midfielder Marcelo Broli helped Audax Italiano earn an vital win against Colombian side Boyacá Chicó in Santiago. His goal in the 79th minute helped the Chileans move on into the group stage of the Copa Libertadores. Their 1-0 win alongside their 3-4 loss in Bogota last week allowed them to advance on away goals.

Audax continued to play aggressive as they did on the road, but this time against a Chicó side that played more defensive than in the previous 90 minutes. They dominated the game and were more proactive on the offensive side. The result could have been worse but goalkeeper Edigson Velásquez played inspired and the goalposts were his best friends for close to 80 minutes until the defensive line was broken down and Broli was able to make the difference in the end.

Their presence in Group 7 alongside São Paulo, Sportivo Luqueño, and Atlético Nacional make this group among the toughest to get out of in the Copa Libertadores.

Broli is an excellent player, but I think it’s going to be tough for them.
