Cannibalizing Charrúa Callup
Palermo goalscorer Edinson Cavani will replace the injured Diego Forlán on Oscar Washington Tabárez´ callup for the upcoming World Cup Qualifers.Canvani has become in the past six months has become one of the top scorer in Serie A.
El Caníbal (The Cannibal) has been one of the biggest revelations of the past year in Italian Serie A as he scored five goals in 17 matches with the Rosanero last season. The Uruguayan U-20 star started the season where he left off scoring two goals in his four matches so far.
Another player who earned his spot on the national team is Sebastián Abreu who made his grandiose return to River Plate with a brace against Uruguayan side Defensor Sporting in the second round of the Copa Sudamericana. The Uruguayan international began his second stint with the Argentine giants after a financially disastrous two months at Beitar Jerusalem. Abreu seems to have quickly gotten back into form for their two upcoming matches in qualifying play. The Charrúas will renew try and make it two in a row against their eternal rivals in yet another version of the Rivalry of the River Plate on October 11th. They will then face off against Bolivia in La Paz at midweek to culminate their 2008 campaign.
Uruguay are currently in 5th place with 12 points.
