Nacional Get Five-Match Ban
The Tricolor were handed down a five-match ban from the Uruguayan Football Federation Discipline Tribunal. According to Federation guidelines, the minimum is the punishment received by the Uruguayan giants. There could have been a great possibility of the team having received a points deduction in addition to the match ban.
¨I think that the ban was just and we were planning on accepting whatever the decision was going to be,¨ said Alejandro Balbi on Uruguayan television. The decision came down as a result of the alleged Sleevegate incident when the match referee called the match a forfeit as a result of Nacional not coming out on to the pitch when the he said to. There were incidents that ensued and this was that led to the eventual match ban. Speculators mention that the Tricolor will play at the Estadio Centenario during the next five matches.
Regardless of the decision, Nacional will still play at Parque Central on Sunday as they host Defensor Sporting for the sixth week of the Uruguayan Apertura.
