Tabarez Open To Options

Coach Oscar Washington Tabarez looks to see what he will have available for Saturday´s clash against Argentina in Buenos Aires. As of Wednesday he was not willing to give a probable Starting XI for the team´s big game as he is still waiting for the status of Botafogo goalkeeper Juan Castillo (back) and Villarreal defender Diego Lugano (hamstring).

In the Uruguayan practice this week, the war cry was ¨if we can do it in Sao Paulo, we can do it in Buenos Aires¨. This is referring to the performance they had against Brazil where they dominated in every aspect of the game against a Brazil side with no ideas, but still lost to the Canarinha.

Uruguay come in with unbeaten in their last four matches andCoach Tabarez knows that they come in with the advantage (slight as it may be). They face a side that is winless in their last five matches and coach Alfio Basile is on the hotseat. One of the people that is all too familiar with the situation in Argentina is River Plate forward Sebastián Abreu. Although he has limited duty with River Plate, every time that he is called upon… he scores. In only two matches in the Copa Sudamericana since his return from Beitra Jerusalem, he scored three goals. According to sources, his partner will be Sevilla marksman Javier Chevantón. Chevantón is also getting extended playing tie due to the injury to Luis Fabiano and he has responded.
